The Bakersfield Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) is a nonprofit veterans’ organization dedicated to supporting and defending the Constitution of the United States, maintaining a strong national defense and preserving the earned entitlements of members of the uniformed services, their families and survivors. We promote the aims and objectives of the National MOAA organization, and actively support their efforts to further the legislative agenda appropriate to military members, veterans and their survivors. The Chapter facilitates camaraderie among retired, active and former officers of the uniformed services and their National Guard or Reserve components. The chapter actively supports major community service projects, including annual awards to JROTC Cadets in our local high schools. Information on Joining the Chapter
Membership is open to anyone who is serving or has served on active duty or in one of the National Guard or Reserve components as a commissioned or warrant officer in any component of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and Public Health Service and their surviving spouses. Retirement from the military is not necessary for membership. Auxiliary memberships are also available for surviving spouses. Annual membership for Member or Auxiliary Member is $20. Our chapter Moto is, “Proud of the Past – Committed to the Future”.
The Bakersfield Chapter holds 5 meetings a year. The Annual Meeting and the election of officers takes place in November with the installation ceremony in January. Annually the Chapter awards a number of $500 Scholarships on a competitive basis to high school seniors. The Chapter proudly supports the Junior ROTC programs and provides annual awards recognizing highly qualified high school cadets. Our Bakersfield Chapter is a member of the California Council of Chapters of MOAA. Our Chapter motto is: “Proud of the Past – Committed to the Future”.
The chapter supports both the MOAA national legislative agenda and the California Council of Chapters (CAL-MOAA) agenda in pursuit of various national and state veterans’ issues by providing information and encouraging member support in our newsletter and at our meetings.

About Our Chapter
The Bakersfield Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) was chartered in 1979. The chapter consists of 75 members along with an active Auxiliary membership. Dinner meetings are held on the third Monday in January, March, May, September and November. Meetings include speakers who address issues of interest to our members. Interested nonmembers are invited to attend.
