Legislative issues are brought to member’s attention both as announcements by the legislative committee and as articles in our monthly Newsletter. An example of one of those articles follows: At one of our meetings, some comments were made about the purpose of the Greater St. Louis Chapter. Our purpose is more than just a pleasant luncheon where we meet once a month to renew old friendships, socialize, enjoy a good meal, and participate in a presentation from an interesting guest speaker. Of course, those things are valuable, and our board wants to continue to strengthen the importance of our local chapter. However, we also exist to form one powerful voice that is heard and heeded in the halls of congress and the administration. This year, as a new administration takes over it is critical that we keep our fingers on the pulse of what is going on in Washington -- legislation that is crucial to our Armed Forces, for active duty, former, and retired. Specific areas of topics include Health/Dental Care benefits, Survival Benefit Plan, Widow’s Tax, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) issues and more.
