Mission – The mission of NWFMOA is to benefit the members of the uniformed services, their families and survivors and to advocate a strong national defense, while providing needed support to the community and its members.

Information on Joining the Chapter

Information on Joining the Chapter – Membership in NWFMOA is open to anyone who holds or has ever held a commission or warrant in any component of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service or National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and their surviving spouses. Membership applications may be obtained from W. D. “Bill” Van Hoesen at or from NWFMOA, Box 310, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32549.

Chapter Activities

Chapter Activities – NWFMOA holds 12 meetings a years featuring guest speakers on topics relevant to its members. Our annual Military Ball/Christmas Dance to benefit our Scholarship Fund is held each December. In addition, the chapter's Scholarship Fund awards three college scholarships to local JROTC members who will be participating in an active ROTC program and the annual Veterans’ Day observance. The chapter also participates in a project to assist in the re-location of the Seventh Army Special Forces Group from Fort Bragg, NC to Eglin AFB to and Air Force personnel involved in the new F-35 training mission also at Eglin AFB. NWFMOA is also very involved in Operation Homecoming welcoming our locally assigned heroes home from overseas deployments. Other projects are supported as their needs are made known.

Legislative Issues

Legislative Issues – NWFMOA supports the MOAA national legislative agenda and we annually invite our Congressional Representative and Senators to speak to the chapter. The chapter is also active in supporting the state council in various state veterans' issues.

General Information – NWFMOA meetings are breakfast meetings held on the first Wednesday of each month beginning at 07:15 hours at the Eglin Air Force Base Officers’ Club. About Our Chapter

About Our Chapter – The Northwest Florida Military Officers' Association, Inc. (NWFMOA) was chartered in 1959 as an independent association and has been affiliated with Military Officers’ Association Of America (MOAA) since 1964. It serves the Panhandle of Florida, primarily Okaloosa, Walton, and Santa Rosa counties and Eglin Air Force Base (AFB), Hurlburt Field AFB and Duke Field AFB military communities. Monthly Breakfast/General Membership meetings are held at the Eglin AFB Officer's Club at 0715 hours. The chapter also publishes a monthly newsletter, The Defender. The chapter currently has approx. 500 members made up of active, former, and retired officers and their spouses from all seven branches of the uniformed services.
