The SENCLAND chapter has meetings with outstanding programs ten months of the year, usually the first Tuesday of the month. The chapter meeting in June is traditionally a “Pig Pickin’” (BBQ) activity where we include our Scholarship winners and their families. The May and October meetings are held in Southport and the December meeting is a Holiday social. All other meetings are held at the Bluewater Grill in Wrightsville Beach. Our Board meets several times during the year. The monthly newsletter is available electronically and in hard copy and is published 10 times a year. Our chapter supports 15 local JROTC programs and provides approximately $5,000 in Scholarships each year. We judge the JROTC units in the Azalea Day Parade, participate in the Massing of the Colors on Veteran’s Day, support Honor Flights and a number of programs for wounded warriors.
The SENCLAND Chapter supports the MOAA legislative agenda and we annually invite our Congressional Representative and Senators to speak to the chapter. The chapter is also active in supporting the NC Council of Chapters in various veterans’ issues.
Locations of meetings are announced in the chapter newsletter and at chapter meetings. Newsletters and other information about our chapter is found at the NC Council of Chapters website (www.moaa-nc.org ). Our new website is under construction and you can check our progress by going to www.sencland.org
About Our Chapter
The Southeastern Chapter (SENCLAND) of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) was officially chartered on 30 June 1973 as an affiliate of the national organization of The Retired Officers Association (TROA) and was re-chartered as an affiliate to MOAA when the name changed in 2003. Located along the beautiful southeastern coast of North Carolina, SENCLAND currently has 300 members in New Hanover, Brunswick, Pender and Onslow counties. We represent all 7 uniformed services and our members are either currently serving, or former, retired officers and their survivors. We are a vibrant organization with members continually demonstrating their commitment to MOAA and our local community. An active member of the MOAA North Carolina Council of Chapters and the New Hanover County Veterans Council, SENCLAND enjoys a reputation of outstanding camaraderie, leadership, service, community, and outstanding programs.
